The procedure of reciting Diwali Mantra is as follows:

Recite the Mantra 'OM HRIM SHRIM LAKSHMIBHYO NAMAH'
This should be carried out 11 times at least and if possible then 108 times.
The recitation should be carried out in the time suggested as per above.
Please bath and wear clean clothes before you commence the process.

Non-vegetarian food and alcohol should not be consumed before such recitation. After the recitation of Mantra is complete you can play the LAKSHMI AARTI and distribute some sweets to all family members to complete the process of DIWALI puja and appeasing goddess Lakshmi.
